Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili announced the rapid recovery of her country's economy after it was affected by the Corona pandemic, revealing that it achieved a growth rate of 12% at the end of the year compared to last year. President Zourabichvili said in an exclusive interview with the Secretary of the Electronic Media Union and the Editor-in-Chief of the Electronic Al-Irada newspaper, Muhammad Dhafer Al-Arada, that her country is attractive to investors, has different areas for investment, and does not have any bureaucratic restrictions or difficulties. She also stressed the importance of having an embassy of Kuwait in Georgia to facilitate the development of political and economic relations between the two countries, expressing her hope for the establishment of the embassy in the near future, and the following are details of the Interview.

How do you see the business environment in Georgia and how do you evaluate this environment? What is your message to foreign investors that will help them make the decision to invest in Georgia?

First, I would like to say that despite the epidemic that hit Georgia hard because it is a tourist country, and it suffered especially last year and the beginning of this year, but a few months ago we have had a rapid economic recovery and we will end this year with a good growth of 12% compared to last year Fortunately, it's a good number.

It is also important to resume tourism, since summer Georgia is open to tourists. The epidemic is not over yet but we are living with it.

This means that Georgia returns to its attractiveness to investors and that it is easy to invest in Georgia. There are very few bureaucratic difficulties but we are among the 10 where it is easy to do business very quickly. I think it's very attractive.

The fact that we have potential in different areas for investment, because we don't have restrictions, for example: hydroelectric power, we also have the tourism and hospitality sector, and the balneology sector which is very interesting for the Gulf countries. There are also different opportunities, for example water which is a very important potential for investors from your country.

In your opinion, what will Georgia and the Gulf states benefit from economic cooperation and the implementation of investment projects?

I think that this country is very open for investment, but it is also a country that allows foreign investors to benefit from the various agreements that Georgia has concluded with the outside world, which facilitate entry into the European market, the Chinese market, and the Countries of post-Soviet space, which means Central Asia. Therefore we are widely located between Europe and Asia.

I think it is a very unique geographical feature for countries near Georgia that can enjoy these facilities.

As you know, Your Excellency, there is no Kuwaiti embassy in Georgia at present, and the Kuwaiti government plans to establish an official diplomatic mission in Georgia. In your opinion, how will this contribute to deepening trade and business relations and strengthening relations between the two countries?

Well, the development of economic relations or political relations between two countries, of course, is the presence of an embassy because it is very important. I would like to say that there are two important things is that there are direct airlines and flights and we have direct flights with different Gulf countries. The presence of regular direct flights is very important, especially for tourism.

But the embassy is also something different because it gives us access to first-hand information about potential investments, and about interesting trends and also allow to establish contacts between companies, the second step can be business forums and business contacts. The embassy is the link that facilitates this.

Therefore, I hope that your country will establish the embassy very soon, and this is in the plans. We are waiting and we have high expectations.

We have information that at the end of the year in December, the Chamber of Business for Asia and the Arabian Gulf is planning to hold a trade and business forum in Georgia, which will be attended by large investment funds and companies, but this depends on the Corona pandemic situation. What do you think, holding business and trade forums and holding meetings in Georgia with Asian companies on a frequent basis will help in strengthening contacts between the two countries and facilitating the implementation of large-scale investment projects in Georgia?

As I said, the embassy can help organize that forum, but if it is a direct organization, it is also very important and positive, and I hope that this epidemic will not hinder it. The country are completely open and this is clearly visible. I believe that this forum will allow for these direct contacts, which are very important, and also provide the investors with the possibilities that they can bring to visit and discover the different areas and attract their investments themselves and do the various economic fields.
